The class emphasizes fundamental skills while incorporating the technical requirements specific to on-camera performance.

Students will develop foundational skills in imagination, concentration, character development, and script analysis, while also learning technical on-camera skills such as hitting marks, continuity, and working effectively with a scene partner for the camera.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Film & Television Classes

Introduction to Film and Television Production: From Script to Screen
These classes provide a comprehensive overview of the principles, procedures, and techniques of film and television production. Students will learn the fundamentals of cinematic storytelling, explore various industry roles, and gain hands-on experience in the basic technical skills required for an entry-level position. The course emphasizes practical application, collaboration, and understanding the entire production pipeline, from development to distribution.

Understand the five key phases of film and TV production: development, pre-production, production, post-production, and distribution.

Identify and describe the key roles within a production crew (e.g., Director, Producer, Cinematographer, Editor, Production Assistant) and their responsibilities.

Apply basic technical skills in camera operation, sound recording, lighting, and digital editing.

Analyze and deconstruct film and TV content to understand how formal choices (cinematography, editing, sound design) shape meaning and themes.

Collaborate effectively in a team environment, developing strong communication and problem-solving skills essential for set work.
